Russell, a longtime resident at the Canisteo Manor, passed away on February 2, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>She is predeceased by her husband, Bob Russell and her son, Bruce Russell.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are two daughters, JoAnn Russell Taylor (Larry) of Willis, TX and Janet (Matt) Calvage of Greer, SC;\u00a0 \u00a0Joan had six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.\u00a0 She is also survived by Frank and Deanna Russell of Andover, her brother in-law and sister-in-law.\u00a0 She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Karleen House of Longmont, CO.<\/p>\n<p>Joan was born in New York City on August 29, 1927.\u00a0 She moved to Canada with her parents as a young girl, and later returned to New York State where she met her husband, Bob.\u00a0 They transferred to Indianapolis, Indiana where they lived for many years while raising their family.\u00a0 Once they retired, they moved back to New York State to be near the Russell family.<\/p>\n<p>A Special Thank-You to Pete and Sharon Houghtaling of Hornell, her two caregivers, Tammy Sick of Hornell, Kathy Harkenrider of Rexville and all the family and friends who have lovingly cared for her for many years.<\/p>\n<p>There will be no calling hours.\u00a0 A \u201cCelebration of Life\u201d service will be held on March 22, 2025 at First Methodist Church in Canisteo at 1:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n<p>In memory of Joan, please consider a donation to Faith In Action Steuben County, 20 Broadway Mall, Hornell NY 14843.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence or share a memory, visit www.dagonfuneralhome.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Canisteo, New York Joan H.
