Hillman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-7661\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250617_164008-250x298.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"298\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250617_164008-250x298.png 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250617_164008-1024x1220.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250617_164008-200x238.png 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250617_164008-768x915.png 768w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250617_164008.png 1094w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>Hornell, NY<\/p>\n<p>Eleanor J. \u201cEllie\u201d (Trowbridge) Hillman \u2013 95 \u2013 of Pardee Street, Hornell, died peacefully Monday morning (June 16, 2025) at home, surrounded by her loving family.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on February 21, 1930, she was the daughter of the late William &amp; Winifred (Cullinan) Trowbridge.<\/p>\n<p>Eleanor grew up in Hornell and graduated from Hornell High School (class of 1949).\u00a0 She enjoyed working summers and holidays at the former MacBride\u2019s Clothing Store.\u00a0 While living in Scranton, PA, she was employed in the accounting department at the Erie Railroad before moving back to Hornell in the 1960s.\u00a0 She retired as a bank teller at First State Bank in Canisteo, NY.\u00a0 Most importantly, however, she was a devoted stay-at-home mother and homemaker for many years while her children were young.<\/p>\n<p>A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Ellie found joy in the simple things in life.\u00a0 She enjoyed good conversation and was happiest at home, spending time with her family.<\/p>\n<p>She was married on April 25, 1964 to Robert \u201cBob\u201d Hillman, who predeceased her on September 19, 2018.\u00a0 Eleanor was also preceded in death by her son, James \u201cJim\u201d Hillman on March 14, 2024; 3 sisters, Norma (Edward) Hartford, Dolores (Raymond) Chapman, &amp; Mary Margaret (William) Havens; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Leo (Isabelle) Hillman &amp; John (Mary) Hillman.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are her son, David (Kathleen) Hillman of Hornell; daughter, Kim (John) Weyand of Hornell; grandchildren, Sara (Derek) Ras, Robert \u201cRJ\u201d Hillman, Ren Hillman, Shawn (Heidi) Hillman, Jacob Weyand, &amp; Spencer Weyand; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Juliann \u201cEllie J\u201d Ras; sister-in-law, Rosemary Walton of Ashville, NC; many nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>To honor Eleanor\u2019s wishes, there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 A private graveside service will be held at St. Ann\u2019s Cemetery with Father Stan Kacprzak officiating.<\/p>\n<p>Eleanor\u2019s family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to the Huntington\u2019s Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Avenue, Suite 1402, New York, NY 10018 or by visiting https:\/\/hdsa.org\/hdsacoeuofr\/.<\/p>\n<p>Ellie\u2019s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the wonderful care she received from her team at Tender Loving Home Care, especially Lena, Heather, Aimee, Heidi, Kim, Brynn, and Bobbie Jo.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church Street, Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence or share a memory, please visit www.dagonfuneralhome.com or www.facebook.com\/dagonfuneralhome.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hornell, NY Eleanor J. \u201cEllie\u201d (Trowbridge) Hillman \u2013 95 \u2013 of Pardee Street, Hornell, died peacefully Monday morning (June 16, 2025) at home, surrounded by her loving family.
