{"id":7687,"date":"2025-07-02T16:59:39","date_gmt":"2025-07-02T20:59:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=7687"},"modified":"2025-07-11T16:15:16","modified_gmt":"2025-07-11T20:15:16","slug":"christine-chris-williams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=7687","title":{"rendered":"Christine \u201cChris\u201d Williams"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-7712\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Chrisstine-Williams-Photo-250x420.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"420\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Chrisstine-Williams-Photo-250x420.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Chrisstine-Williams-Photo-200x336.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Chrisstine-Williams-Photo-768x1289.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Chrisstine-Williams-Photo.jpg 875w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>North Hornell, NY<\/p>\n<p>Christine \u201cChris\u201d Williams \u2013 67 \u2013 of Cleveland Ave., North Hornell, died early Wednesday morning (July 2, 2025) at Elderwood at Hornell Nursing Facility following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in New Albany, MS on July 29, 1957, she was the daughter of Elmer &amp; Amanda (Boles) Folsom.<\/p>\n<p>Chris resided in Mississippi until she was about 10 years old when her family moved north to the South Fallsburg, NY area.\u00a0 She was a graduate of Monticello Central High School (class of 1975) and later attended cosmetology school in Middletown, NY.<\/p>\n<p>A talented photographer, Chris was employed for several years at the Concord Hotel in the Catskill Mountains photographing weddings, fashion shows and other events.\u00a0 She also became friends with Muhammad Ali and served as his personal photographer as he did much of his training for up-coming fights at the Concord Hotel.<\/p>\n<p>For several years, Chris lived in Miami, FL where she served as a photographer and also worked at a high fashion store.\u00a0 She has resided in the Hornell area since 1993.<\/p>\n<p>Chris was a \u201cself-proclaimed homebody\u201d who loved every kind of music, including R&amp;B, Hip-Hop, Soul Music and the Blues.\u00a0 \u00a0In her younger years she loved dancing &#8212; especially during the Disco Years and doing the \u201cHustle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A strong, out-spoken, free spirited woman, Chris liked to read fashion magazines and the Bible.\u00a0 She also enjoyed shooting pool, playing cards and dining on soul food along with \u201cdown-south cuisine\u201d from Mississippi.\u00a0 Chris was a true \u201cSurvivor\u201d who lived 25 years with just one lung.\u00a0 Doctors called her a \u201cMiracle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Dwight Folsom and Samuel Folsom; 2 sisters, Della Mae Folsom-Sheppard and Louise Fingers.<\/p>\n<p>On April 20, 1985, Chris married Samuel \u201cSam\u201d Williams who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are her daughter, Ashley Williams of Canandaigua, NY; her step-son, Kory Williams of Atlanta, GA; 2 brothers, Willie Folsom of Holly Springs, MS and John Folsom of Ithaca, NY; 4 sisters, Lucille Herbent of Liberty, NY, Edith Sheppard of Pembroke Pines, FL, Claudette Folsom of Monticello, NY and Brenda Folsom of Chicago, IL; 2 grandchildren, December Williams and Jordan Williams; many nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>At Christine\u2019s request there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Chris\u2019 family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to a charity of the donor\u2019s choice.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence or share a memory, visit www.dagonfuneralhome.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>North Hornell, NY Christine \u201cChris\u201d Williams \u2013 67 \u2013 of Cleveland Ave., North Hornell, died early Wednesday morning (July 2, 2025) at Elderwood at Hornell Nursing Facility following a long illness.
