{"id":775,"date":"2011-09-11T22:16:33","date_gmt":"2011-09-11T22:16:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=775"},"modified":"2011-09-11T22:16:33","modified_gmt":"2011-09-11T22:16:33","slug":"gladys-petrelli","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=775","title":{"rendered":"Gladys Petrelli"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-776\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=776\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-776\" title=\"Gladys Petrelli Photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Gladys-Petrelli-Photo-250x278.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"278\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Gladys-Petrelli-Photo-250x278.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Gladys-Petrelli-Photo-200x222.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Gladys-Petrelli-Photo.jpg 754w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>Gladys Petrelli \u2013 87 \u2013 of 61Delaware Ave., Hornell, died Friday morning (September 9, 2011) at St. James Mercy Hospital following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Torrice, Italy on March 4, 1924, she was the daughter of Frank &amp; Felice (Orologio) Petrillo.<\/p>\n<p>Gladys has lived in the United States since she was four years old.\u00a0 She grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1942).<\/p>\n<p>She had been employed for a time at a shoe manufacturing company in Endicott, NY.\u00a0 For 43 years she was employed at the former Huguet\u2019s and later Stern &amp; Stern Textiles as a \u201cwarper\u201d, retiring in 1987.<\/p>\n<p>Gladys was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann\u2019s Church.\u00a0 She was a member of the Ladies of Columbus and also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sons of Italy (Italian American Women\u2019s Club).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She was an avid reader and would read anything, including books, magazines &amp; newspaper articles.\u00a0 There was nothing that she wouldn\u2019t read.\u00a0 Gladys had many friends and was active in the \u201cClass of 1942 Annual Reunion\u201d.\u00a0 She truly enjoyed her family, especially having fun with her many nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>Gladys was preceded in death by 1 brother, Angelo Petrillo; 1 sister, Pat Sciotti.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are 2 sisters, Santa (Walt) Cleveland of Hornell and Mary Petrelli of Hornell; 1 brother, Dominick (Myrna) Petrelli of Wellsville; 6 nieces, Angela Fee, Mary Klindt, Lisa Grady, Angelina Huffman, Michelle Petrillo and Debbie Barrett; 8 nephews, Anthony Sciotti, Michael Petrillo, Pat Cleveland, Mark Cleveland, Dan Cleveland, Andrew Petrelli, Jeff Petersen and Roger Petersen; 18 great nieces &amp; nephews; 9 great-great nieces &amp; nephews; several cousins.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Gladys Petrelli will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 PM\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday ad 11:00 AM at St. Ann\u2019s Church with burial in St. Mary\u2019s Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Gladys\u2019 family request that memorial contributions in her name be made to either St. Ann\u2019s Church, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, NY 14843 or to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gladys Petrelli \u2013 87 \u2013 of 61Delaware Ave., Hornell, died Friday morning (September 9, 2011) at St. James Mercy Hospital following a long illness.
