Clancy \u2013 77 \u2013 of Hornell died Monday morning (August 25, 2025) at St. James Hospital following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on April 25, 1948, she was the daughter of Richard &amp; Blanche (DeGraw) Dininny.<\/p>\n<p>Linda grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1966).\u00a0 For several years she was a \u201cStay-At-Home-Mom\u201d raising her family.\u00a0 Following the death of her husband in 1978, she entered the workforce and began her career as highway maintenance worker #2, serving as a truck driver &amp; snow plow operator for the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT).\u00a0 Linda was actually one of the first females ever employed at the NYSDOT.\u00a0 She retired in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Having a deep love of the outdoors, Linda enjoyed doing yard work and working in her huge\u00a0 \u201cStone Garden\u201d tending to her flowers, plants and garden ornaments.\u00a0 She loved rooting for the Carolina Panthers (NFL) and became a fan primarily because she simply liked the color of their uniforms!\u00a0 Linda enjoyed spending time on her computer playing games and \u201csurfing the net.\u201d\u00a0 She also cherished the times having lunch with her best friend, Jan Cornish and times spent with her \u201ccanine companion,\u201d Misty.<\/p>\n<p>Linda was married on September 6, 1966 to Richard \u201cDick\u201d Clancy who died January 25, 1978.\u00a0 She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Mickey Dininny and Larry Dininny; her niece, Kristen Dininny; along with several in-laws, Jack Emo, Patricia Thorn and Beverly Blumenfeld.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are 2 sons, Richard \u201cRichie\u201d Clancy of Hornell and Christian \u201cChris\u201d Clancy of Wellsville; 1 daughter, Cortney (Mike) Shull of Hornell; 2 grandsons, Jeremy Campbell and Matthew (\u201cDez\u201d)\u00a0 Willsey; 1 granddaughter, Melinda Clancy; 1 great-granddaughter, Olivia Willsey; her in-laws, Margie Dininny, Carol Dininny, Alan (Mary Jane) Clancy, Francis (Lucille) Clancy, &amp; Marianne Emo; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>At Linda\u2019s request there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.\u00a0 A \u201cCelebration of Life\u201d will be held at date &amp; time to be announced.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Linda\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to St. Jude Children\u2019s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN\u00a0 38105.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence or share a memory, visit www.dagonfuneralhome.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hornell, New York Linda K.
