{"id":7914,"date":"2025-12-07T12:00:19","date_gmt":"2025-12-07T17:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=7914"},"modified":"2025-12-09T13:36:26","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T18:36:26","slug":"richard-e-rick-scott-jr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=7914","title":{"rendered":"Richard E. \u201cRick\u201d Scott, Jr"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-7924\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Richard-Scott-Photo-250x368.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"368\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Richard-Scott-Photo-250x368.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Richard-Scott-Photo-200x295.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Richard-Scott-Photo.jpg 429w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>Hornell, New York<\/p>\n<p>Richard E. \u201cRick\u201d Scott, Jr \u2013 67 \u2013 of Hornell, NY, died unexpectedly on Saturday 9December 6, 2025) at his home.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Shirley, Massachusetts on December 28, 1957, he was the son of the late Richard E. &amp; Patricia (Krim) Scott, Sr.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his lifetime, Rick live all over the world.\u00a0 As a boy, he lived in Germany, Alaska, Florida &amp; New Jersey while his father served in the United States Army.<\/p>\n<p>Rick himself enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1975 at the age of 17 and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC.\u00a0 He toured the European Theatre.\u00a0 Upon his honorable discharge in 1978, Rick returned to New Jersey and then moved to Maine, Florida &amp; Delaware before settling in New York State.\u00a0 Hornell has been his home since 2018.<\/p>\n<p>A self-proclaimed jack-of-all-trades, rick was employed in many capacities in the mechanical, carpentry, masonry and welding industries.\u00a0 He was a truck driver for many years and most recently drove for Val\u2019s express in Monroe Township, NJ.<\/p>\n<p>Rick enjoyed woodworking, mechanics, auto racing and was a New York Mets fan.\u00a0 He also loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing (lake, stream and occasionally deep-sea fishing).\u00a0 He was a talented artist who loved sketching and working with water colors.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his father and mother, Rick was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick M. Scott of Brick, NJ.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are his loving sister, Debra (Thomas) Lardieri of Dover, DE; his sister-in-law, Melissa B. Scott of Brick, NJ; his daughter, Veronica K. (Antonio) Solorio of Washington State; his son, Leslie \u201cEddie\u201d (fianc\u00e9, Dani Leeann) Scott of Oregon; along with 4 grandchildren.\u00a0 Also surviving are his nieces, Myllisa (Jeremy) Kennedy and Rosann (fianc\u00e9, Mark Wallcott) Levkovski; his nephews, Bryan (Jill) Scott, Andrew (Cassie) Scott and Timothy (Emily) Scott; along with great-nieces &amp; great-nephews.<\/p>\n<p>To honor Rick\u2019s wishes, there will be no calling hours.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Rick\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to the Hornell Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, NY 14843.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence or share a memory, visit www.dagonfuneralhome.com or www.facebook.dagonfuneralhome.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hornell, New York Richard E. \u201cRick\u201d Scott, Jr \u2013 67 \u2013 of Hornell, NY, died unexpectedly on Saturday 9December 6, 2025) at his home.
