{"id":7940,"date":"2025-12-16T13:12:57","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T18:12:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=7940"},"modified":"2025-12-17T12:08:04","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T17:08:04","slug":"michael-e-mike-bloom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=7940","title":{"rendered":"Michael E. \u201cMike\u201d Bloom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-7943\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Michael-Bloom-Photo-250x287.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"287\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Michael-Bloom-Photo-250x287.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Michael-Bloom-Photo-1024x1177.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Michael-Bloom-Photo-200x230.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Michael-Bloom-Photo-768x883.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Michael-Bloom-Photo.jpg 1234w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>Canisteo, New York<\/p>\n<p>Michael E. \u201cMike\u201d Bloom \u2013 54 \u2013 of 25 Pine St., Canisteo, NY, died early Tuesday morning (December 16, 2025) at his home, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in North Hornell on December 26, 1970, he was the son of Earl &amp; Yvonne (Atkins) Bloom.<\/p>\n<p>Mike grew up in Arkport and attended Arkport Central School.\u00a0 He later received his General Education Development (GED) Diploma from Hornell BOCES.<\/p>\n<p>Mike resided in Florida for about 2 years where he worked installing TV cable.\u00a0 At the age of 20, he returned to the Hornell Area and has resided in Canisteo for the past 10 years.\u00a0 A self-proclaimed \u201cJack of All Trades,\u201d Mike has been employed at several area businesses and worked a variety of jobs, including Gunlock Corporation, welding, Dansville Logging, roofing &amp; carpentry at Loper\u2019s Contracting and as a mechanic at Smith\u2019s Collision in Arkport.\u00a0 Since suffering a stroke in 2019, Mike has been disabled and has not been able to work.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to suffering a stroke, Mike enjoyed taking long rides on his Triumph Motorcycle with his buddies.\u00a0 He also had a deep love of music &#8212; especially \u201cOld Rock\u201d and \u201cHeavy Metal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was married on September 5, 2015 to Deanna Smith who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are 3 children, Michael Bloom, Jr. of Hornell, Tabitha Smith of Perry, NY and Riley Bloom of Canisteo; his sister, Deanna Bloom of Bath; 6 grandchildren, Aubree Smith, Jude Johnson, Cylar Yeoman, Aiden Bloom Alynna Kepper and Carter Bloom; his great-niece, Anhaleigh Buckmaster; along with several nieces &amp; nephews.\u00a0 He will also be sadly missed by his 2 dogs &amp; 6 cats.<\/p>\n<p>At Mike\u2019s request there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 A \u201cCelebration of Life\u201d will be held at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Mike\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name be made to the Hornell Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, NY\u00a0 14843.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence or share a memory, visit www.dagonfuneralhome.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Canisteo, New York Michael E. \u201cMike\u201d Bloom \u2013 54 \u2013 of 25 Pine St., Canisteo, NY, died early Tuesday morning (December 16, 2025) at his home, following a long illness.
