Snell \u2013 87 \u2013 of 5800 Turnpike Road, Bath, NY died Friday afternoon (January 9, 2026) at her home, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Bath, NY on February 7, 1938, she was the daughter of Kenneth &amp; Nellie (Sprague) Snell.<\/p>\n<p>Betty grew up in Bath and was a graduate of Bath-Haverling High School (class of 1956).\u00a0 She was employed for about 15 years as a secretary for the Steuben County Planning Board and later the Steuben County Welfare Department.\u00a0 For over 20 years, Betty served as an Executive Secretary for the New York State BOCES Program and later as a part-time substitute teacher BOCES Wildwood Career Center in Hornell and the BOCES Career Center in Coopers Plains, NY.<\/p>\n<p>In her younger years, Betty was a member of the Baptist Grange and in recent years was a member of the International Order of Kings Daughters &amp; Sons (IOKDS), a non-denominational charitable Christian organization.<\/p>\n<p>She enjoyed bird-watching &amp; bird-appreciation and loved reading and also enjoyed working on cross-word puzzles.\u00a0 She had a deep love of cats and, throughout the years owned and cared for countless feline-friends.<\/p>\n<p>Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Snell and her sister, Doris Copp.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are her son, Paul (Rebekah Bishop) Snell of Bath, NY.<\/p>\n<p>At Betty\u2019s request there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence or share a memory, visit www.dagonfuneralhome.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bath, New York Betty A.
