{"id":814,"date":"2011-11-26T17:31:20","date_gmt":"2011-11-26T17:31:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=814"},"modified":"2011-11-26T17:31:20","modified_gmt":"2011-11-26T17:31:20","slug":"francis-j-frip-marino","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=814","title":{"rendered":"Francis J. &#8220;Frip&#8221; Marino"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-816\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=816\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-816\" title=\"Frip Marino Photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Frip-Marino-Photo1-250x321.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Frip-Marino-Photo1-250x321.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Frip-Marino-Photo1-200x257.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Frip-Marino-Photo1.jpg 575w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>Francis J. \u201cFrip\u201d Marino \u2013 (85) \u2013 of 348 Cleveland Ave., North Hornell, died early Saturday morning (November 26, 2011) at Rochester General Hospital, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on May 24, 1926, he was the son of Anthony &amp; Rose Mary (Milanese) Marino.<\/p>\n<p>Frip was a graduate of St. Ann\u2019s School and later graduated from Hornell High School (class of 1944).\u00a0 He was employed in many capacities for over 44 years at the former Erie Railroad, Erie-Lackawanna Railroad and Conrail.\u00a0\u00a0 For four of those years (1984-1988) his employment with the railroad forced him to live in Buffalo, but he was able to move back to Hornell in 1988.\u00a0 He retired in 1989.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and had been a communicant of both St. Ann\u2019s Church and St. Ignatius Loyola Church.\u00a0 He was a member of the G. Carducci Lodge (Sons of Italy) and a life member of the Hornell Knights of Columbus.\u00a0 He was also a former member of the Hornell Moose Lodge, Hornell Elks Club and the Hornell Association.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Louise Townsend who died in 1971.<\/p>\n<p>Frip was married on June 13, 1953 to the former Edna Drum who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are 4 sons, Michael J. (Martha) Marino of Hornell, Francis A \u201cFran\u201d Marino of Hornell, Charles A. \u201cChuck\u201d (Colleen) Marino of Temecula, CA and James F. (Eileen) Marino of Hornell; his mother, Rose Marino of Horseheads; 1 sister, Carol Waufle of Elmira; 10 grandchildren, Cara Marino, Mary (Graham) Marcus, Courtney (Travis) Charpentier, Lisa E. Marino, Lauren (Grant) LaFrance, Candace Marino, Joanna Marino, Ignatius Marino, Natalie Marino &amp; Juliet Marino; 3 great-grandchildren, Madeline Marcus, Crosby Charpentier &amp; Angelina LaFrance; 1 cousin, James (Jill) Curcio of Sun Lake, AZ; many nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>At Frip\u2019s request there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Ann\u2019s Church with burial in St. Mary\u2019s Cemetery.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Memorial contributions in his name may be made to either St. Ann\u2019s School, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, NY 14843 or the Alzheimer\u2019s Association, 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0<a rel=\"attachment wp-att-815\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=815\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Francis J. \u201cFrip\u201d Marino \u2013 (85) \u2013 of 348 Cleveland Ave., North Hornell, died early Saturday morning (November 26, 2011) at Rochester General Hospital, following a long illness.
