Norton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-842\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=842\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-842\" title=\"Christopher Norton Photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Christopher-Norton-Photo-250x282.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"282\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Christopher-Norton-Photo-250x282.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Christopher-Norton-Photo-200x225.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Christopher-Norton-Photo.jpg 484w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>Christopher R. \u201cChris\u201d Norton \u2013 59 \u2013 of County Route 121, Wayland, (Loon Lake), died unexpectedly at his home.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on April 11, 1952, he was the son of Richard &amp; Margaret (Fie) Norton.<\/p>\n<p>Chris grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1970).\u00a0 Following high school he enlisted in the US Army where he served from 1971-1974.\u00a0 While serving in the US Army, Chris was stationed in Alaska and served as a medic.<\/p>\n<p>For many years, Chris was self employed as a painter and drywall hanger.\u00a0 He later earned his Master\u2019s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Alfred University, graduating with a 4.0 GPA.\u00a0 He was very proud of the fact that he eventually became an Associate Professor at SUNY Alfred, teaching physics and electrical engineering.<!--more-->Chris obtained his private pilot\u2019s license and enjoyed the freedom of flying small airplanes for many years.\u00a0 He loved to travel and has visited every state in the union except Hawaii.\u00a0 He also traveled throughout the world visiting many countries, including Greece &amp; China.<\/p>\n<p>He was a former member of the Hornell VFW and Hornell American Legion.\u00a0 He also enjoyed watching sporting events on television and had been a New York Mets fan and a Buffalo Bills fan.<\/p>\n<p>Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret and also his nephew, Mike Norton.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are 2 sons, Micah Francis of Chester, VA and Christopher Norton, Jr. of Chester, VA; 1 daughter, Jenelle (Mark) Kliewer of Chester, VA; his father, Richard Norton of Hornell; 2 brothers, Mike (Darla) Norton of Canisteo and Pat (Debbie) Norton of Ithaca; 1 sister, Cathy (Tom) Atchison of Silver Lake, OH; 1 granddaughter, Freya; several nieces, nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0 A Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 12:00 Noon with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.<\/p>\n<p>In honor of Chris\u2019 service to his country while serving in the US Army, the flag at the Dagon Funeral Home will be flown at half-staff.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Christopher R. \u201cChris\u201d Norton \u2013 59 \u2013 of County Route 121, Wayland, (Loon Lake), died unexpectedly at his home.
