{"id":884,"date":"2012-01-10T19:43:34","date_gmt":"2012-01-10T19:43:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=884"},"modified":"2012-01-10T19:43:34","modified_gmt":"2012-01-10T19:43:34","slug":"mary-lou-mchale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=884","title":{"rendered":"Mary Lou McHale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-885\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=885\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-885\" title=\"Mary Lou McHale Photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Mary-Lou-McHale-Photo-250x311.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"311\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Mary-Lou-McHale-Photo-250x311.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Mary-Lou-McHale-Photo-200x249.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Mary-Lou-McHale-Photo.jpg 793w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>Mary Lou McHale \u2013 79 \u2013 of 270 Main St., Hornell, died unexpectedly on Monday (January 9, 2012) at her home.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on June 16, 1932, she was the daughter of Charles &amp; Lillian (Kelly) Howe.<\/p>\n<p>Mary Lou grew up in Arkport and was a graduate of Arkport Central School.\u00a0 She had been employed for several years at the former Marion Rohr Corporation and for nearly 40 years was employed as a School Crossing Guard for the City of Hornell.\u00a0 For many years, she owned &amp; operated Mary Lou\u2019s Chocolate Shop in Hornell featuring a variety of \u201cgoodies\u201d during the Easter Season.\u00a0 Mary Lou thoroughly enjoyed all of the holidays and loved decorating her home for each holiday season.<!--more-->When her children were young, Mary Lou served as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts of America.\u00a0 She was a life member of the AZB Sorority and a former member of the Hornell Association.\u00a0 She was an avid reader and enjoyed rooting for the Hornell Red Raiders &#8212; especially the football team &amp; basketball team.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mary Lou was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann\u2019s Church.\u00a0 She had been a member of the Ladies of Columbus and the Catholic Daughters of America.\u00a0 She was also a member of the St. James Hospital Auxiliary and the Democratic Ladies Committee.<\/p>\n<p>She enjoyed working out at the Hornell YMCA and was a proud member of the Silver Sneakers Group.\u00a0 She also looked forward to joining her Breakfast Club at the Texas Caf\u00e9 following her workouts at the YMCA and on Saturday mornings.<\/p>\n<p>Mary Lou was married in 1956 to Raymond J. McHale who died October 23, 2005.\u00a0 She was also preceded in death by 5 sisters, Wanda glover, Charlotte Sutfin, Alta Glover, Lorraine Hoeffner and Kathleen Baker; 4 brothers, Gaylord Howe, Gene Howe, Charlie Howe and Ken \u201cNip\u201d Howe.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are 3 sons, Patrick (Cam) McHale of Hornell, Shane (Dawn) McHale of Concord, NC and Michael McHale of Concord, NC; 1 sister, Marie Brands of Arkport; 2 brothers, Jack \u201cBing\u201d (Joyce) Howe of Arkport and Dewey (Carol) Howe of Florida; 7 grandchildren, Kevin McHale, Kasey McHale, Timmy McHale, Blaine McHale, Sarah McHale, Meghan McHale and John McHale; several in-laws, nieces, nephews &amp; cousins.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Mary Lou McHale will receive friends on Friday from 3:00 PM\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday at St. Ann\u2019s Church with burial in St. Mary\u2019s Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Mary Lou\u2019s family request that memorial contributions in her name be made to the Hornell YMCA, 12 Center St., Hornell, NY 14843.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mary Lou McHale \u2013 79 \u2013 of 270 Main St., Hornell, died unexpectedly on Monday (January 9, 2012) at her home.
