Housen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-889\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=889\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-889\" title=\"David Housen Photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/David-Housen-Photo-250x249.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/David-Housen-Photo-250x249.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/David-Housen-Photo-200x200.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/David-Housen-Photo.jpg 396w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>David R. \u201cDave\u201d Housen \u2013 59 \u2013 of 7519 Knoll Crest Dr., Almond, died Monday (January 9, 2012) at his home, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Binghamton on April 6, 1952, he was the son of George &amp; Clare (Gilgallon) Housen.<\/p>\n<p>Dave grew up in Appalachian, moving to Alfred at the age of 16.\u00a0\u00a0 He has resided in the Alfred\/Almond area for his entire adult life and has resided in Knoll Crest Drive for nearly 37 years.<\/p>\n<p>He was a graduate of Alfred-Almond Central School (class of 1970) and later earned his Associate\u2019s Degree in Accounting from SUNY Alfred.\u00a0<!--more-->Dave was a self-employed licensed electrician working for several area contractors.\u00a0 He was a \u201cJack Of All Trades\u201d who enjoyed woodworking, especially building &amp; refinishing furniture.\u00a0 He also loved rooting for the Buffalo Bills Football Team, especially during their \u201cgolden years\u201d.\u00a0 Dave was known for his great sense of humor who loved keeping his friends laughing and was also known for his fantastic memory.<\/p>\n<p>He was married to the former Lois Scovell who died June 10, 2009.\u00a0 He was also preceded in death by his father, George Housen who died in 1987 and his brother, George Housen, JR who died in 1978.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are his mother, Clare Housen of Lakeville, TX; 1 sister, Linda Gillette of Rochester; 1 brother, R. Gary Housen of Fountain Inn, SC; his \u201cstep-daughter\u201d, Holly Scovell of Wellsville; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family of David R. \u201cDave\u201d Housen will receive friends on Saturday from 3:00 PM\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 6:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY where a Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 6:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.<\/p>\n<p>Dave\u2019s family request that memorial contributions in his name be made to the Almond Volunteer Fire Department, Main St., Almond, NY 14804.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>David R. \u201cDave\u201d Housen \u2013 59 \u2013 of 7519 Knoll Crest Dr., Almond, died Monday (January 9, 2012) at his home, following a long illness.
