McKibben"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-894\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=894\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-894\" title=\"Steve McKibben Photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Steve-McKibben-Photo-250x338.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Steve-McKibben-Photo-250x338.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Steve-McKibben-Photo-200x270.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Steve-McKibben-Photo.jpg 373w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>Steven E. \u201cNellie\u201d McKibben \u2013 60 \u2013 of 71 Church St., Hornell, died Monday afternoon (January 16, 2012) at his home, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on April 14, 1951, he was the son of Raymond &amp; Kathleen \u201cKay\u201d (Stiles) McKibben.<\/p>\n<p>Steve grew up in Canisteo and was a graduate of Canisteo Central School (class of 1969).\u00a0 He later attended Corning Community College.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For about 20 years he was employed at the Hornell Evening Tribune, primarily working in the composing room.\u00a0 He was also co-owner &amp; operator of Maple City Games in Hornell.\u00a0 In recent years, Steve was employed in various capacities at the Hornell Elks Lodge and Hornell Association.<\/p>\n<p>Nellie was a member and one of the original founders of the Hornell Association where, for several years he served on the Board of Directors.\u00a0 He had also been a member of the Hornell Elks Lodge and was a former member of the Hornell Moose Club.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Steve was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed rooting for the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills.\u00a0 He loved spending time on the golf course and had enjoyed many years playing in the Men\u2019s Softball League.\u00a0 He will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends &#8212; especially at the Hornell Association.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his father, Ray McKibben.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are his former wife, Cindy McKibben of Hornell; his daughters, Katie McKibben of Hornell and Marcella (Matthew) Oathout of Mount Wolf, PA; his mother, Kathleen \u201cKay\u201d McKibben of Canisteo; 1 brother, Scott McKibben of Hornell; 2 sisters, Lynn (Lavern) Neu of Hornell and Trudi Cline of Canisteo; 2 grandchildren, Ryan Oathout and Eliza Oathout; several nieces, nephews &amp; cousins.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Stephen E. \u201cNellie\u201d McKibben will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 PM\u00a0 until\u00a0<br \/>\n7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home where a Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 7:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.<\/p>\n<p>Steve\u2019s family request that memorial contributions in his name be made to the Hornell YMCA, 12 Center St., Hornell, NY 14843.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Steven E. \u201cNellie\u201d McKibben \u2013 60 \u2013 of 71 Church St., Hornell, died Monday afternoon (January 16, 2012) at his home, following a long illness.
