Elsie Mary Cushing – 92 – of 1497 Water Wells Rd., Alfred Station, NY, died early Saturday morning (July 25, 2020) at her home, following a long illness.
Surviving are 2 sons, Mark (Janice Thies) Cushing of Ithaca and Eric (Eri) Cusning of Alfred Station; 1 daughter, Karen Cushing of Alfred.
There will be no calling hours or services. A complete obituary will appear in the Alfred Sun Newspaper.
I am very sorry to hear about Elsie’s passing. My sincere condolences to the family.
Val and Elsie were essentially my “art parents”. I graduated Alfred in 1982 only to return to take a temporary sabbatical replacement much later. I was very fortunate to spend many many hours at the “Cushing Ranch”. Henry Bauer and I did a great deal of work on the studio and built most of the deck around the house. Val and Elsie were two of the most kind and giving humans I have ever known. My heart goes out to you all in this saddest of moments.

I am saddened to hear about Elsie passing, I was blessed to sit ,yak and giggle with her this past spring.Val and Elsie were more than my clay friends and Elsie was a feisty joy to have touched my life.
