Florence (Johnson) Egger

Florence R. “Fabulous Flo” Egger – 92 – of Boulder, CO, formerly of Hornell died August 9th, 2013 at her home in Boulder.

Born in Bradford, PA on February 19, 1921, she was the daughter of Hugh & Florence (Disney) Johnson.

Florence grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1939).  She had been employed in the meat department of the former Loblaw’s Grocery Store in Hornell and later as a secretary at Alfred State College.  She retired in 1984 and shortly thereafter moved to Colorado.

While in Hornell, Flo was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and had been a communicant of both St. Ignatius Loyola Church and St. Ann’s Church.  She enjoyed reading and cooking. 

She was married on March 14, 1942 to Gerald “Jerry” Egger who died March 28, 1954.  Flo was also preceded in death by her son, Gerald Egger JR; 4 brothers, Francis Johnson, Robert Johnson, Fred Johnson & Leo Johnson; 4 sisters, Eileen Johnson, Elizabeth Newman, Almeda Perkins & Stella Smith.

Surviving are 1 son, Jan (JoAnne Leegant) Egger of Rochester; 1 daughter, Michelle (Michael) Krell of Boulder, CO; 1 brother, William “Bill” Johnson of Hornell; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; many nieces & nephews.

At Florence’s request there will be no prior calling hours.  Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church. 

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.
 
In lieu of flowers, Florence’s family requests that everyone enjoy a good bottle of wine while remembering the good times spent with her.

    I had been thinking of you after all of these years and
    came upon your dear Mothers obituary. I am so sorry to hear
    of your loss, but remember her with such a smile.
    She was so energetic and fun to be around.
    I lost my Mom this summer as well.
