Paul W. Schimmel

Bath, NY

Paul Wesley Schimmel – 66 – of East Union Road, Bath, died Friday morning (February 16, 2024) at his home, following a long illness.

Born in East Rockaway, NY on March 7, 1957, he was the son of the late Charles and Lenore (Grunow) Schimmel.

“My dad was a kind, stubborn (I say that with love) hardworking man. He worked in construction for many years, a job he loved to do. He loved to help his friends, and whenever it came to construction he was right there. He was a member of the Bahoggers and an avid hunter/fisherman. Throughout his life he met amazing friends that turned into family, and he would give the shirt off his back to help anyone. I wish I had enough room to list you all as you all met so much to him. He loved his family; he helped take care of both his parents. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and even have nerf gun fights with them in the winter. No words can describe how amazing of a man my dad was and how much I learned from him. He taught me to hunt and fish and about construction. As many have said over the years “you are your fathers’ child.” I wear that with pride. Dad you will be forever missed by many, but this is not a goodbye this is a see you later. I love you dad!”

Surviving are his daughter, Lisa M. (Jason Byron) Schimmel of Wayland; 2 sisters, Penelope Hernandez of New York and Barbara Bursi of New York; 3 brothers, Charles (Susan) Schimmel of Florida, Laurence Kriete of South Carolina, and Martin (Deborah) Schimmel of Georgia; his longtime partner and companion, Pamela Soles of Bath, NY and her children Edwin (Tamara) Berry of Texas and Jessica Berry of North Carolina; his beloved grandchildren, Ayden Campbell, John “JJ” Cummings, Nevaeh Byron, Cavan Byron, Maelyn Byron, Parker Byron; and many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
