Claude Lewis Comardo – 60 – of 7 West St., Hornell, died Sunday afternoon (February 1, 2026) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, following a long illness.

Born in Rochester, NY on December 14, 1965 and grew up in the Rochester where he attended Irondequoit High School.  He later earned his General Education Development (GED) Diploma.

A resident of the Hornell – Canisteo area for the past 19 years, Claude had been employed as an Electronic Technician at Alstom (7 years); Gunlock Corporation in Wayland (4 years) and Strobel Supply in Hornell (1 year), retiring 4 years ago due to ill health.

Claude was an avid coin collector for many years and became an expert at assessing coin values.  He enjoyed fishing (streams & ponds) and especially looked forward to holiday dinners and cook-outs with family.

He was preceded in death by his brother, William Cross; and his nephew, Scott Cross.

On October 20, 2011, Claude married the former Kelly Edwards who survives.  Also surviving are one son; one daughter; several step-children; numerous nieces & nephews.

At Claude’s request there will be no calling hours.  A “Celebration of Life” will be held at a future date.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St. Hornell, NY.

Claude’s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
