James R. Crissy – (83) of 7329 County Route 65 (North Main Street Ext.) died Thursday evening (May 12, 2016) at his home following a long illness.
Born in Rochester, NY, on January 15, 1933, he was the son of Roy & Clara (Mondzielewski) Crissy. He had resided in Buffalo, NY for many years and has lived in the Hornell area since 1961.
Jim was a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed for about 40 years at the former Erie, Erie Lackawanna, Conrail and D&H Railroads retiring in 1996 as an engineer.
A communicant of St. Brendan’s Church of Almond and a former member of St. Ann’s Church, Jim had served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. He was a member of the Hornell Knights of Columbus, Hornell VFW and a member of All Vets.
Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Rev. Roy Crissy; his sister, Sr. Mary Ann Crissy (Sisters of Namur); and his grandson, Alexander James Crissy.
He was married in Our Lady of Victory Basilica in Lackawanna, NY, to the former Sarah A. “Sally” McDonald who died January 30, 2007.
Surviving are his children, James Paul (Yonne) Crissy of Hornell, John Michael (Jean) Crissy of San Diego, Ca., Ann Marie (Mike) Liccione of Hilton, NY, Patrick T. Crissy of Ft. Myers, Fl., Sally (Dave) Young of Havelock, NC, Shannon Ajour of Fayetteville, NC, Damian (Miriam) Crissy of Jacksonville, FL, Luke (Nathalie) Crissy of Avon, NY, Therese Bly of Arkport, Jason (April) Crissy of Rochester; 3 brothers, Donald (Mary) Crissy of Buffalo, NY, William (Adrienne) Crissy of East Aurora, and Thomas D. (Margaret) Crissy of Thornton, CO; 1 sister, Mary Ann (Arthur) Prentiss of Buffalo; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews.
The family of James R. Crissy will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial (with Military Honors) will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 AM at St. Brendan’s Church of Almond with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna, NY.

In Honor of Jim’s service to his country during the Korean Conflict, the American Flag at the Dagon Funeral Home will be flown at half-staff.

Joanne M. Daniels – (85) – of 345 Cleveland Ave., North Hornell, died Friday evening (April 1, 2016) at McAuley Manor where she had resided for the past seven months.
George E. Wellington – 76 – of 42 Fulton St., Hornell, died early Friday morning (April 1, 2016) at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, NY, following a brief illness.
