Campbell, New York
Steven J. “Steve” Crouch – 68 – of County Route 333, Campbell, NY died Sunday afternoon (September 21, 2025) at his home, following a long illness.
Steve was born in Corning, NY on November 4, 1956 and grew up in Savona, NY. He attended Savona Central School, leaving school at the age of 16. Many years later, at the age of 42 he decided to pursue his education, and in 1999 received his high school diploma from the BOCES Campus at Coopers Plains, NY. He also earned his Heavy Equipment Certification and his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) allowing him to drive Semi Trucks & Trailers.
After leaving high school (at age 16) and before returning to school (at age 42), Steve was employed at several locations including Babcock Ladder in Bath; a spray painter at Clark’s Specialty in Hammondsport; and Bekins Moving Company (moving residential households) in Rochester, NY. He also worked as a driver (under permit with another licensed driver) for Swift Trucking in Syracuse, NY. After receiving his license & certifications, he established Steve’s Hauling, doing residential and commercial “clean-outs” throughout Steuben County.
Steve was a true outdoorsman who, when his health permitted, enjoyed deer hunting and also fishing (both stream & lake). He was an all-around “Handy Man” who could build or fix just about anything. He was an avid Harley Davidson Motorcycle enthusiast who loved taking long rides on his Harley “Trike” with his wife riding on the back. Steve will be remembered as a loving family man who enjoyed taking care of his family, his home, and his “feline companions” (AKA cats).
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Joseph Crouch.
He was married in 1977 to the former Cindy Snyder who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, Jerome Crouch of Campbell and Nicholas Crouch of Bath; several siblings, including his brother, Roger (Debra) DeCamp of Savona.
At Steve’s request there will be no calling hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.
