Susan E. “Sue” Cady

Hornell, New York

Susan E. “Sue” Cady – 62 – of 228 Vincent St., Hornell, died unexpectedly at her home.

Born in North Hornell, NY on August 17, 1962, she was the daughter of Clarence & Joan (Sackett) Cady.

Sue grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1980).  She later attended Alfred State College (SUNY Alfred) Majoring in Business Administration.

Throughout the years, Sue was employed at several area businesses including seamstress at the Marion Rohr Corporation and desk clerk at the Coachlight Motel.  She also worked in the security department at the Morrison-Knudsen Corporation and Transit Air in Hornell.

Sue enjoyed gardening (both flowers & vegetables) and shopping — especially yard and craft sales. Sue was a very talented crafter and loved going to the Windmill in Penn Yan for inspiration for the next project.  She had a deep love of animals and because she owned several cats, she was affectionately known as the “Cat Lady.”  Sue loved to “totally relax” and was known to “Light Up” as much as Bob Marley!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence & Joan Cady.

Surviving are 2 brothers, Roger Cady of Hornell and Greg (Tammy Mead) Cady of Hornell; 3 nephews, Jesse, Billy & Owen.

At Sue’s request there will be no calling hours.  A “Celebration of Life” will be held on a date & at a time to be announced.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.

Sue’s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to the Hornell Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, NY  14843.

I send my heartfelt condolences to the Cady family and friends of Sue Cady. We knew each other when we were kids and rode the school bus together all those years ago. I hope my friends Roger and Greg can find peace knowing that Sue is with her parents again, walking in natures garden with her animals. May Sue be planting flowers!
