Antoinette M. “Ann” Parlavecchio – 89 – formerly of Hornell, died Sunday evening (December 31, 2017) at the Mercy Center in Rochester, following a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born in Hornell on June 30, 1928, she was the daughter of Rosario & Lucy (Salerno) Parlavecchio.
Ann was a graduate of St. Ann’s School and later graduated from Hornell High School (class of 1946). She had been employed for many years at the former Corbin Wood Products in Hornell and later at Philips Lighting in Bath.
She had been a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and communicant of St. Ann’s Church. In her younger years, Ann enjoyed bowling and throughout the years was a member of several bowling leagues. She was an avid reader and loved traveling throughout the United States. She also loved rooting for the New York Yankees, New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Rosario & Lucy Parlavecchio; 3 brothers, Anthony “Tony” Parlave, James Parlavecchio and Sam Parlavecchio; 4 sisters, Mary Parlavecchio, Rose Macaluso, Josephine Cipolla and Carmella Parlavecchio.
Surviving are her sister, Rachel Parlavecchio RSM; several nieces & nephews.
At Ann’s request there will be no calling hours. Family & friends are invited to attend a Prayer Service on Thursday at 3:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
Ann’s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to the Sisters of Mercy, c/o Mercy Center, 1437 Blossom Rd., Rochester, NY 14610. Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.
The family would also wish to extend their gratitude for the loving & compassionate care given to Ann during her stay at the former McAuley Manor of North Hornell and also the Elder One Program of Rochester — especially to the nursing staff, aides and community advocate staff.

Casey J. Cameron, Sr. – 59 – of 34 State St., Hornell, died early Saturday morning (December 23, 2017) at Elderwood at Hornell less than 3 years after being diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia.
Helen J. Kerr – (91) – formerly of 6 Dogwood St., Bath, NY passed away early Saturday morning (December 16, 2017) at the Steuben Center Nursing Facility in Bath, NY where she had resided for the past 9 months.
Barbara Lee Margeson – 74 – 5567 Cook Hill Rd., Hornell (Town of Hartsville) died Friday, December 15th, 2017 at her home, following a long illness.
Patricia A. “Pat” Burleson – 67 – of 7748 Old Big Creek Rd., Hornell (Town of Fremont) died Saturday afternoon (December 9, 2017) at Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira, following a brief illness.
Dale R. Nye – 65 – of 6501 Whitford Road, Alfred Station, NY died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon (December 2, 2017) in Alfred Station.
Robert B. “Bob” Levee, Jr – 67 – of 1190 County Route 66, Hornell, formerly of Canaseraga, died early Friday morning (November 24, 2017) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, following a long illness.
Robert R. “Bob” Lewis – (70) – of 7477 Seneca Road North, Hornell, formerly of Cohocton, NY died Wednesday evening (November 22, 2017) at the VA Medical Center, Bath, NY following a courageous battle with cancer.
John A. Dessena – (89) – formerly of 43 East Main St., and 2 Holly Terrace, Hornell, died Friday morning (November 17, 2017) at Hornell Gardens, following a long illness.
