Barbara A. “Barb” Lawrence – 79 – of 8412 County Route 48 (Oak Hill Rd.), Arkport, died Saturday evening (July 15, 2017) at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, following a long illness.
Born in Hornell on January 23, 1938, she was the daughter of Clarence & Olga (Gowiski) Glover.
Barb was a lifelong resident of Arkport and was a graduate of Arkport Central School (class of 1955). She later attended Hornell Business School and became a secretary. In her younger years, she served as a secretary for several area doctors and veterinarians.
She was married on December 3, 1960 to Shelton “Punk” Lawrence who died December 26, 2016. In the 1970’s, Shelton took over the operation of the Lawrence Family Farm, a family owned dairy farm in Arkport which is now in its sixth generation of operation. For over 40 years, Barb served as bookkeeper and account manager for the farm.
Barb was an avid reader and also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. She loved to travel throughout the United States and every year would take a vacation with some of her closest and dearest friends.
In addition to her husband, Shelton, Barb was preceded in death by her son, Scott Lawrence.
Surviving are her son, Joseph Lawrence of Arkport; her grandson, Blake (Crystal Caldwell) of Arkport; 1 sister, Beverly Vales of Arkport; 1 brother, Donald (Rosemary) Glover of Long Island, NY; several nieces & nephews.
At Barb’s request there will be no calling hours. Private graveside services will be held at Heritage Hill Cemetery in Arkport at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.
Barb’s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to Noyes Memorial Hospital Activities Fund, 111 Clara Barton St., Dansville, NY 14437

Beverly J. Cleveland – 81 – of 181 Madison Ave., Hornell, died unexpectedly on Saturday morning (June 17, 2017) at St. James Mercy Hospital where she was taken by Hornell City Ambulance after being stricken at home.
Julia M. Beers – 22 – of 7997 Knolltop Court, Arkport, NY died Friday morning (June 9, 2017) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, following a three year battle with Crohn’s Disease.
Harry Lorren Miller, formerly of Hornell and a longtime resident of Henrietta, died suddenly on January 27, 2017. Harry, affectionately known to family and friends as “Ace,” was 81.
Kathleen S. “Kathy” Yeoman – 55 – a lifelong resident of Hornell, died Tuesday morning (May 23, 2017) at the Highland Park Rehab Center in Wellsville where she had resided for the past three weeks.
