Donald J. Rechichi

Donald J. “Don” Rechichi – 52 – of Blaine St., Hornell, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon (October 6, 2022) at his home.

Born in North Hornell on May 22, 1970, he was the son of John & Julia “Judy” (Padden) Rechichi.

Don grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1989).  He had been employed in the kitchen/cafeteria at the former St. James Mercy Hospital and later served as a “prep-cook” at Country Kitchen Restaurant in Hornell.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Parish and a communicant of St. Ann’s Church.  Don had also been a member of the Hornell Association.

In his younger years, Don enjoyed bowling and was a member of several bowling leagues.  He had been a hunter who enjoyed hunting deer & small game.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Julia Rechichi along with several aunts & uncles.

Surviving are his brother, David (Yvette) Rechichi of West Seneca, NY; 1 nephew, Michael Rechichi; 1 niece, Rachel Rechichi; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews.

At Don’s request there will be no calling hours.  A private graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.

Don’s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1000, Department 300, Memphis, TN  38148.  Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.
