An amazing woman who I had the privilege of knowing through her work at Alfred State. My sympathy to her family and friends.
Mike and family, we are so very sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I had Mrs. Cropp for 10th Grade math. She was so kind and patient and taught in a way that made it easy to understand! Although she could have left to go home after the school day ended, she always helped anyone who wanted it after school in her classroom. Her classroom was always full after school. I will also remember her for her bright smile. She made everyone around her smile! My mother worked part time at The Cameo in the shoe department. Irwin was also very kind and had a wonderful personality!
Rest in peace, Jane. Our thoughts are with the family. She was a wonderful and caring friend to our family over many, many years, and a great inspiring math teacher as well. My siblings and I are all remembering her with much love. Her contributions to her community were immense. She will be missed.
Was so sorry to hear of Jane’s passing. My Mom, Marguerite Nicholson worked for Irwin and Jane at the Cameo Shop (Bridal) for many years and loved them both. They were very good to her! My kids had Jane in school and thought a lot of her!
She was a very special lady!
Jane Jamison was truly one of the GIANTS of the faculty of Hornell High School. My condolences to her family on her passing. May she rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing forever to all her knew her!!
She was one in a million!
All our love,
Dennis and Peggy Wilcox
My condolences to the family. Mrs. Cropp taught me Geometry in 10th grade in 1969. She was a wonderful teacher and one of my favorites. When I went back to college when I was in my 40s, I happened to see her in a restaurant. I told her that I was taking Accounting and some Math courses. She offered to help me if I ever needed it. I didn’t, but I will never forget her kind offer. Rest In Peace Mrs. (Cropp) Jamison!
I’m so very sorry, Mike and family, for your family’s loss. Your Mom was one of my favorite teachers. Her love of math was evident in the way she taught. My condolences to you and your family.

“May her memory be a blessing.”
I aspired to be a math teacher because of Mrs Cropp. Never made it but always loved her influence.
If anyone could light up the internet page and Facebook page of Dagon’s Funeral Home with dozens of tributes and expressions of gratitude, it would be Jane (Cropp) Jamison. She was an amazing teacher and an amazing human being! Not only was she there to help students after school, but after her retirement she was also there to help other people with her volunteering and transporting others for doctor’s appointments, etc. Certainly, memories of her have been and always will be a blessing to those who knew her! My condolences to her children, stepchildren and grandchildren.
Sending sincere sympathy to your family. Even 45 years later, I still recall her enthusiasm and incredible dedication for teaching at HHS. It was always a delight to see Mrs. Jamison in Hornell upon return and her genuine interest on how you were doing. I use math in my career every day- With Gratitude for her being a fabulous teacher. May her memory be a blessing.
WOW. What a loss for us all.
I worked for the Cropps in the early 60’s
Both as a handyman around home and camp than later at the Cameo.
Jane and Irwin became my extended family. They were truly kind and supportive through my high school years.
After Vietnam I went to Cornell. Jane heard that we were pregnant and gifted us with some much needed baby furnishings and supplies. What a great example they both were to us. I will never forget either of them.
I remember transporting Harold, Michael and Ellen to Keuka Lake. They had a little contest about who could spot the Lake first. It got to be a competition and they all started to memorize landmarks prior to when the Lake was actually visible. What a hoot. What a fun family……
Ellen and family are in our thoughts. May her memory be for a blessing. Jane sounds like she was an amazing teacher, mother, and presence!

Jane will be missed. She was a very important part of our friends and our extended family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Hal, Michael, Ellen and your families. May Jane’s Memory be for a Blessing.
Jane lived the gold medal standard for teaching excellence. She was very kind but at the same time a tough love teacher that truly cared for her students before tough love came into relationship speak. She sounded the alarm on what college maths would be for those pursuing what are now called STEM majors for those needing to buckle up for them. Her shadow of positive influence extended far and wide.
Jane was a wonderful teacher. She reached out to me when my mother died and I appreciated hearing from her so much.
Jane was a wonderful teacher and a better person. She managed to get me through Geometry which was no small feat. She always held a special spot in my mother’s heart with their shared experience at Hornell High. Condolences to Mike, Ellen and your families.
I send my most sincere condolences to Jane’s family.
She was a brilliant, compassionate mother, teacher and friend to many. When I babysat her young children many years ago, I was so impressed with the encouragement and support she gave them, letting them know they could learn anything. She guided me as I began my college days. She was a remarkable woman who will be dearly remembered.
Jane will be sorely missed. A great friend & gave so much to so many. 🙏❤️
Sincere condolences to the Cropp families. Jane was a great teacher and lovely person. Such a wonderful friend to all who knew her. How she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
John and I send our sincere condolences to Mrs. Jamison’s family. We both have life-ling respect for Jane as our Math teacher and also as the kind and compassionate person she genuinely was. Jane patiently tutored me (Gina) in Geometry; Jane had a positive influence on John’s education in Math and computers. I’ve never forgotten that the first sympathy card we (Moretti siblings) after our Mom passed was from your Mom. Thank you for sharing her with us.
There is earth; there is wind; there is fire. And there is Jane Cropp. She was a force of nature and optimism.
She will always have a devoted space in the hearts of the Corner family.
